Gouldian finch

We learnt about threatened species in Broome, where we live. I chose the Gouldian Finch because my family and I are interested in bird watching. I also want people to know that it’s not just animals that live in the water that are endangered. The Gouldian Finch is endangered because people are burning their homes and chopping them down. I chose to draw my animal like Sobrane, a Broome artist whose art is sort of messy but still looks good. I hope in the future that people will plant more homes, not just for the Gouldian Finch but for every bird.

We learnt about threatened species in Broome, where we live. I chose it because I know a lot of facts about the Green Turtle. It is endangered because of human interference, they get hunted for their flesh and because of foxes. I chose to do my art like Sobrane, a Broome artist who makes her art look good by making it messy. Hopefully people can help the Green Turtle by not hunting them for their flesh and helping them to have babies so there will be more Green Turtles.

We learnt about how the animals in Broome are endangered and why. I chose the Gouldian Finch because I adore birds and it caught my eye with its beautiful colours. It is endangered because parasites are getting in their lungs which makes them struggle to breathe and also because cows eat their food. I chose to draw my bird like Sobrane, a popular artist around Broome whos art usually has crazy things sticking out the side of the picture like lines. I hope that the Gouldian Finch does not become extinct and will happily reproduce and live their lives.

We learnt that one of the types of turtle that lives in Broome is endangered. I choose the green sea turtle because they are cute and wonderful. They are endangered because humans are hunting them, foxes and dogs are eating their eggs, humans are building along the beach and destroying their nests. I tried to draw my picture like Jimmy Pike, an Indigenous artist from Western Australia. I hope the green sea turtle won’t be endangered anymore!

We learnt about threatened species in Broome, where we live. I chose the Gouldian Finch because it has unique colours and I like birds. It is endangered because cows eat all their food, they get a parasite that stops them from breathing and habitat destruction from burning off. I chose to draw my animal like Sobrane, a Broome artist who does sketchy, smudgy street style art. I hope the Gouldian Finch gets stronger and they can live their life. But their future is not set in stone, they can die or even worse they may go extinct.

We learnt about threatened species that live in Broome like us. I chose the Gouldian FInch because it is interesting. It is threatened because of cats, bigger birds and habitat loss. I hope in the future it will not be endangered.

Green turtle

I chose Green Sea Turtle because we have these turtles in Broome they are interesting and curious creatures. It is amazing how the baby gets its gender from whether the sand is hot or cold! The Green Sea Turtle is endangered because of climate change. If the sand is too hot there will be too many females and no males to reproduce. Also some foxes and dogs are digging up the eggs and eating the hatchlings. Lastly because of plastic in our oceans. We can help our turtles by not covering the ocean in plastic and making sure boats watch out for them. I chose to draw my turtle like Sobrane, a Broome artist who draws animals and her style is drippy and messy. I hope that in the future, Green Sea Turtles will no longer be endangered and there will be no plastic in the ocean!

We learnt about threatened species that live in Broome. I chose to draw a gouldian finch because I love birds. They are endangered because their habitat is being destroyed. We could maybe help them by moving them to a safer environment. I chose to draw my artwork like Sobrane, an artist who is from Broome like me. Sobrane draws in bright colours with chalk so I did too. I hope the Gouldian Finch survives.

We learnt about endangered species in Broome. I chose the Gouldian Finch because it is colourful so to me that is confident, and that’s what I am – not afraid to speak up for myself. It is endangered because it gets a parasite stuck in their lungs so they can’t breathe, their habitat gets destroyed by burning and when people build big farms cows eat all their food. Maybe we could move some of them to a bird park so they can have an amazing life. I chose to draw my art like Sobrane, a Broome artist that does back street art of different animals. I hope that the Gouldian Finch will survive the parasites and will be found in Broome!
