As a member of the Ecological Society of Australia, you are entitled to a free subscription to Austral Ecology, Australia’s leading ecological journal published by Wiley as well as the management-oriented journal Ecological Management & Restoration (EMR).

Austral Ecology (formerly the Australian Journal of Ecology) is the premier peer-reviewed journal focusing on Southern Hemisphere ecology.  The journal accepts a range of manuscript types, including standard research articles, reviews, natural history notes, new methods, and forums. Currently, there are no page charges for accepted manuscripts.

The Austral Ecology Editorial Board support an early-career reviewer program to provide experience in manuscript reviewing for early-career ecologists. It also presents the annual ‘Austral Award’ for the best early career Review manuscript accepted in the journal.

Hot Topics are published as part of Austral Ecology and appear as a peer-reviewed, journal-style article with a citable DOI.

Ecological Management & Restoration (EMR) combines a highly readable style with scientifically credible material. It answers the growing need among land managers for reliable, relevant information and acknowledges the need for two-way communication in devising new hypotheses, sound experimentation, effective treatments and reliable monitoring.

EMR also produces a collection of short summaries (or groups of linked summaries) called EMR Summaries. These are usually 800-1100 words on any interesting ecosystem rehabilitation or restoration project in Australia that is already showing good or promising results. These are not peer reviewed, but are checked for clarity and content by the project summaries editor.
