PhD: The conservation ecology of the vulnerable Christmas Island Hawk-Owl, Western Sydney University, NSW

Closing 30 April 2025

The Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment at Western Sydney University is offering a research scholarship to investigate the ecology and conservation of the vulnerable Christmas Island Hawk-Owl. Little is known about the ecology of the species, impeding effective conservation management.

To help address this, the PhD project will:
– assess the status, health, and ecological requirements of the species
– develop a robust design for monitoring the Hawk-Owl’s island population
– inform habitat management and conservation actions relevant for the species’ recovery
