Chuditch (western quoll) are nationally threatened and survive in a range of habitats in the southwest of Western Australia. They are threatened by land clearing and predation by introduced cats and foxes.
Honours projects are available to examine the ecology of chuditch in fragmented forests within a farmland matrix and explore management actions needed to encourage their return to regenerating habitats.
The project is supported by Chalice Mining and is based near Julimar State Forest in Western Australia. The research will help guide restoration design and track restoration success for farmland areas. Some projects will involve substantial time in the field and may include trapping, radio-collaring and tracking, and remote camera monitoring. Students will be supervised by Dr. Hannah Bannister and Prof. Katherine Moseby.
