ESA Early Career Ecologist Mentoring Program

Nate Anderson

The ESA Mentoring Program supports Early Career Ecologists (ECEs) by connecting them with mentors from academia and industry. The program provides a space to explore topics such as career development, work-life balance, research pathways, and navigating challenges in the profession.

In 2025, the program will focus on two speed mentoring weeks (in July and 27 – 31 October 2025), offering flexible, short-format one-on-one mentoring sessions.

Mentees must be ESA members and are generally in the early stages of their careers. Mentors do not need to be senior — anyone with relevant experience and insight is welcome to contribute.

Further details about the format, expectations and additional mentoring opportunities are provided in the guidelines below.
