A new website has just been launched by the Australian Centre for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (ACEAS).

ACEAS is part of a national initiative called the Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network which aims to bring together ecologists, land managers and policy makers from around Australia to share information and develop projects and ideas to steer the way forward for ecological research and management in Australia.

The Indigenous Biocultural Knowledge website presents documented and publicly available literature on Indigenous Biocultural Knowledge (IBK) from around Australia. Place-based literature is presented through a dynamic map of Australia which allows users to see literature from different regions as well as overlay different base layers eg Native Title areas, Indigenous Protected Areas, NRM regions and bioregions. The website also includes a toolkit which provides references to related documents such as cross-cultural research methodologies, IBK reviews of larger areas (eg states) and related information (eg health and legal issues).

The website is intended as a platform for further collaboration and contributions – if you know of any documents that are not included please contact ACEAS. We also welcome any feedback or other contributions such as case studies where people are working to record IBK and they want to raise awareness of their work through the internet.
