Join the Hot Topics Editorial Board

Hot Topics in Ecology are evidence-based syntheses of topics that are relevant to environmental policy development, land management and to broadening the community's ecological knowledge base. Hot Topics aim to deliver timely, factual overviews that promote the application of scientifically defensible ecological knowledge in public debate.

The ESA Hot Topics editorial board currently has a number of vacancies, which ESA members may apply for.  The positions are well suited to members with experience ranging from late post-doctoral to Professorial.  Tasks are to guide ongoing development and implementation of the Hot Topics program, including providing insightful, rapid assessments of new Hot Topics. 

Selection Criteria

  1. Evidence of voluntary contribution to scientific publishing (peer review, editorial boards)
  2. Evidence of voluntary contributions to public education and debate (e.g. contributions to The Conversation, blogs, other media).
  3. Commitment to respond within two days when new HTs are submitted.
  4. Track record of peer reviewed publications.
