The ESA is looking to fill the Hot Topics Chief Editor role in March 2019.

Hot Topics provides a peer-reviewed evidence-based summary of ecological, management and policy issues, digested down to 300 words for a general audience.  All Hot Topics are published on the ESA website and in the journal Austral Ecology.

Applicants will need a half-day per fortnight on average to devote to the role.  Please send a one-page application addressing the selection criteria (below) to Rachel Standish at .

Selection criteria

1. Strong background in the areas of ecology, conservation and/or environmental policy

2. Experience with reviewing and preferably editing for scientific journals

3. Experience in translating science for a general audience in a written format

4. Skills in liaising with multiple stakeholders

5. Member of the Ecological Society of Australia
