Kirsti Abbott is an ESA Member who is an Ant Ecologist at the University of New England. Her study of ants has taken her to a number of islands in the pacific where yellow crazy ants have been creating super colonies.
In a recent postscript to an earlier fascinating conversation with Richard Filder on ABC Radio Kirsti stated 'Ant disasters are happening in the far north and on Ashmore Reef. Yellow Crazy Ants are gaining a stronghold in complex rainforest and World Heritage areas in and around north Queensland
