The Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand’s annual conference in Brisbane from 3-4 November 2016. It will be an excellent opportunity to expand your horizons, challenge your thoughts, share some time with like minded individuals and perhaps present a case study on a dynamic topic.
This year’s theme is “Foundations for Tomorrow” in which we will explore the environmental future and try to forecast where the environment industry may be in 2030 – 2050. The idea is that we take a generation step-forward to consider the following themes:
- How legislation has changed to accommodate social/community expectations around the environment;
- Living with the impacts from sea level rise and its influence on planned developments, flooding, climate change etc;
- The shift change in having a price on carbon and how it has been incorporated into business and economy and land uses;
- How the implementation of a realistic Renewable Energy Target has changed the way we produce and use energy; and
- How we prepare the next generation of environmental specialists for tomorrow’s challenges. These broad themes are our challenge to environmental academics, government and private sector practitioners and the industry in general.
